Headon Farm, Holsworthy
Headon Farm was cut for hay in July 2015 and then preparations made for diversifying the sward through introductions of green hay and seed. After the hay cut, areas of each field at Headon Meadows was lightly disturbed. Green hay collected from different areas at Dunsdon, the donor Coronation Meadow, was then spread across the site with a bale chopper. This was then left for a few days and followed up by aftermath grazing with sheep which will help push the seed into the gaps in the sward.
In the Autumn, seed collected with the seed brush harvester was spread across the site with a quad and spinner; the seed was previously collected at Dunsdon from multiple areas and then dried, bagged and stored.
