The Lots, Charterhouse

Recipient Meadow

The Lots was prepared for restoration work by grazing hard followed by power harrowing.

Wildflower seed was brush harvested from Chancellor's Farm, the donor Coronation Meadow. Two harvests took place in 2015, one in early summer and one in late summer - harvesting twice means that seed that ripens early in the summer can be collected as well as late flowering species such as devil's bit scabious. Some species were collected from the donor meadow by hand including milkwort, cowslip and betony which will be grown as plug plants by a local nursery.

The harvested seed was broadcast at The Lots by volunteers and the site was then rolled with a ridged roll.
