Meadow at The Stables, Ellel
In summer 2014 works began at this 1.9 ha site to create a wildflower meadow. In July, after the hay cut, the ground was chain harrowed in preparation for receiving seed from Bell Sykes, Lancashire's donor Coronation Meadow. The seed was spread mechanically using a leaf blower mounted on the back of a trailer. Future plans are for 1900 plugs to be planted here in 2015. It is hoped that as a result of these works that plant species such as yellow rattle, eyebright and hawkbit will establish and thrive here.
